Net Tracker · for Windows 10 & 11

Know exactly when your internet lets you down — and whose fault it is.

Net Tracker watches your connection around the clock. It logs every drop-out and slow spell with the date and time, runs speed tests, and tells you whether the problem is your own Wi-Fi or your provider.

One-off £4.99 for two PCs, no subscription. Works on 5G, cable, phone line, full fibre and satellite broadband, including Starlink.

The evidence your provider can't argue with

Every problem, with the date, time and cause

When the connection drops or crawls, Net Tracker writes it down and checks your router and mesh units at the same moment, so it can tell a home Wi-Fi fault from a provider fault.

What it does

Everything you need to pin down a bad connection

Drop-outs

Logs every outage

Start time, end time and length, and whether your router stopped answering or the internet beyond it did.

Slow times

Catches the slow spells

High ping, jitter, lost messages and slow speed tests are all logged, marked as a home problem or an internet problem.

Speed tests

Tests on a schedule

Every 15 minutes to every 6 hours, or when you click. Each result shows the percentage of your plan speed.

Home network

Finds the weak link

Finds your mesh system by itself — TP-Link Deco, BT Whole Home, eero, Orbi and more — checks every unit and tells you plainly if your Wi-Fi is the bottleneck.

Your line

Knows how you're connected

Records your provider and whether it's 5G, cable, phone line, full fibre or satellite, and whether this PC is on Wi-Fi or a network cable.

Starlink

Reads your Starlink dish

On Starlink it reads the dish itself, so outages are logged with the reason — obstructions, no satellites, reboots.

Spreadsheet

Evidence for Excel

Every result dated and timed, a day-by-day summary, and the tests below your minimum guaranteed speed highlighted.

Why record it?

One speed test doesn't show last Tuesday evening

When you complain about slow broadband you're usually asked to run a speed test — but one test doesn't show what happened last Tuesday evening, or how often it drops out. Ofcom's Broadband Speeds Code of Practice says providers that have signed up should give you a minimum guaranteed speed, and if they can't fix speeds that fall below it within 30 days, let you leave without an exit fee. Net Tracker's report puts your own measurements against that minimum, so the conversation starts from facts.

Tip for evidence: let it run for a week or two, and do some tests with a PC plugged into the router by network cable — providers often dismiss Wi-Fi tests.

Questions

Before you download

What happens when the 7 days are up?

Net Tracker asks for a licence. Your history is kept, so once you activate it carries on where it left off.

How many PCs can I use it on?

Each purchase gives you two keys, and each key unlocks one PC. If you replace a PC or reinstall Windows, email us and we'll move the key for you free of charge.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

Click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for programs from small publishers that aren't yet widely downloaded.

Will it slow my internet down?

No. The constant checks are tiny. Only the speed tests use your full speed, for a few seconds each time.

Will speed tests use up my data?

Most UK home broadband has no data limit, so no. If your plan does have a monthly allowance, such as some mobile SIMs or travel plans, choose the Light test (up to about 30 MB) and test every few hours.

Does it send my information anywhere?

Your history never leaves your PC. Speed tests use Cloudflare, and your provider's name is looked up from your internet address, which you can switch off. Activating sends only your key and a Machine ID.

I've lost my keys

Email Hilldalecomputing@yahoo.co.uk from the address you bought with and we'll send them again.
